WATCH: Cristopher Sánchez’s chain breaks in the middle of Phillies vs. Blue Jays game

It’s no secret that we are slowly approaching the Dog Days of Summer and if you’re not watching baseball, the only sports fix you have right now is the PGA TOUR or corn hole at a Summer cookout.

That works perfectly fine for me now that the Phillies are seemingly out of their week-long slump and there wasn’t an NBA Finals game last night. It’s easy to throw all my attention at The Fightins when they are winning baseball games, ya know?

With that said, Cristopher Sánchez took the mound and shoved. Sanchez tossed seven strong innings of two-run ball with five strikeouts and zero walks as Max Kepler clutched up in the bottom of the eighth to give the Phillies a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

It wasn’t completely smooth sailing for Cristopher Sanchez, however. In the top of the fifth inning, Sanchez had one of his chains break while he was on the mound.

Bummer. That $22.5 million contract with the Phillies, which included a $2 million signing bonus and an AAV of $5.6 million. That should cover any repair costs assuming The Sanchize has managed his money right.

Hand up. I’m still rocking my “gold” chain that my parents got me for Christmas, like…5 years ago? I say “gold” because it’s faded now, but hey, it gets the job done and it’s basically a part of me now. Loyal to a fault, I guess.

Anyways, Zack Wheeler gets the ball this afternoon looking to seal the sweep against the Blue Jays. He’ll face José Berríos (2–2, 3.38 ERA) in the finale.
