John Kruk 76ers Boycott

John Kruk has officially joined the citywide boycott of the Philadelphia 76ers

John Kruk has officially joined the citywide boycott of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Apparently Kruk said on the broadcast Tuesday night that he’ll never ring the bell at a Sixers game again and that he’s boycotting the team.

No formal audio clip has surfaced yet probably because someone at NBC Sports Philly saw it coming and cut the feed before the man could launch a full State of the Union but enough people caught it live for it to start making the rounds.

John Kruk joins the Philadelphia 76ers boycott

Honestly, it’s hard to blame John Kruk for this one. Whether he was joking or not, that’s pretty much the same type of response that you’ll hear from anyone in the Delaware Valley when talking about the Philadelphia 76ers these days. As I’m sure you know, it’s a sad state of affairs that has been unfolding for years at this point.

The Times Have Changed…

Regardless, the timing is definitely interesting so let’s review some potential reasons why John Kruk has now decided to jump ship.

  • The Sixers are a mess, obviously.
  • Josh Harris bought the Commanders and somehow got even more hateable.
  • The team now plays in Xfinity Mobile Arena.
  • Every draft prospect outside the top two seems to be running in the other direction.
  • The overall vibes on the 76ers are downright toxic.

Kruk is a huge Sixers fan. He used to tweet about them regularly, used to show up and support. The fact that he’s jumping ship now should tell you everything you need to know about the current state of the 76ers organization. If Kruk can’t stomach this team anymore, what hope do the rest of us have?

John Kruk used to love the Philadelphia 76ers…shame

The Sixers are a tire fire dressed up like a playoff team. They’re sitting on a championship window that’s technically still open but you can hear the hinges creaking.

Joel Embiid’s knees are being held together with duct tape and prayer, Daryl Morey is trying to speed-run a contender before he gets canned, and half the fanbase is already talking about Ace Bailey and the next rebuild.

Yes. Rebuild. Again. Before the current one even dies properly.

Ace Bailey might fumble his way out of the top five if he’s not careful

Meanwhile, we’re all just sitting here like passengers on the Titanic, holding out hope while the band plays. And now John Kruk, bless him, just dove into the lifeboat and said “I’m out.”

Can’t blame the guy.

The Sixers front office insists this is win-now mode. They tell us that Paul George will be 100% and Joel Embiid will bounce back. Morey says the the third pick will be a contributor right away while also saying it will be flipped for a star who complements the two mega-contracts on this roster.

You can pretend to be happy about this basketball team but you’re not fooling anyone. If there is no roadmap to contending and you can’t even see the path, it probably doesn’t exist, right?

The fans feel it. Kruk feels it. Even lottery prospects feel it, and they’re not even here yet.

Until then, we’ll wait to see if Kruk confirms his boycott. Maybe it was a joke. Maybe it wasn’t. In the end, it doesn’t matter because he spoke for every single one of us who’s tired of investing emotion into a team that keeps finding new ways to emotionally bankrupt its fans.
