Adam Schefter compared Tommy Fleetwood to Dak Prescott, and it made absolutely zero sense

Adam Schefter made his golf media debut at the Travelers Championship, and it took about five minutes for him to fire off one of the most head-scratching comparisons we’ve heard all year.

Adam Schefter, clearly shaking off the rust, compared Tommy Fleetwood to Dak Prescott. The logic, both have failed to “win” in the big moments.

Tommy Fleetwood never won a PGA TOUR event in the U.S., and Dak’s playoff resume speaks for itself. The problem is that Tommy Fleetwood is actually good at golf and Dak Prescott is not good at football.

Fleetwood has 10 professional wins, multiple top-5 finishes in majors, and has been a certified problem in two Ryder Cups. The guy consistently shows up on big leaderboards and has been in the mix at some of the toughest venues on the planet.

He’s not some overhyped talent who flames out when it matters. He’s just had a tough run closing the deal on U.S. soil. That happens.

Dak Prescott is obviously a different story. He plays for the Dallas Cowboys, which means he’s been handed a spotlight and a stacked roster for nearly a decade, and he’s managed two playoff wins. Two.

He’s thrown back-breaking picks in elimination games and hasn’t sniffed a Super Bowl. If Fleetwood had Dak’s resume in golf, he wouldn’t even be in the field this week.

So no, the comparison doesn’t land. Tommy hasn’t won here yet, but he’s a consistently solid pro who’s delivered on huge international stages. Dak has been a national TV fixture for years and still hasn’t figured out how to beat the 49ers.

Look, it’s fine that Schefter wants to bring his NFL background into the golf world. That’s part of what makes crossover coverage fun.

If you’re going to compare athletes, at least line them up correctly. Tommy Fleetwood is chasing a win, Dak Prescott is still chasing relevance in January. One is close to a breakthrough. The other is still running a draw play with 14 seconds left and no timeouts.
