Disgusting Behavior: White Sox fan ejected after bringing up Ketel Marte’s late mother during D-Backs game

There’s crossing the line… and then there’s whatever this was. Ketel Marte, one of the most productive players in baseball this season, was visibly shaken during Tuesday night’s game in Chicago after a fan allegedly made a disgusting comment about his late mother.

Ketel Marte was seen in tears during a pitching change, needing to be comforted by teammate Geraldo Perdomo and manager Torey Lovullo.

After the game, Tony Lovullo confirmed that a fan in the crowd brought up Marte’s mother, who passed away in a car accident in 2017.

This is absolutely inexcusable. Fans talk trash. That’s part of the game. I talk a ridiculous around of shit with my words right here on The Liberty Line every single day.

On top of that, I literally hate the D-Backs and still suffer from 2023 NLCS PTSD after what that organization did to the Philadelphia Phillies.

However, bringing up a player’s deceased family member is beyond trash talk. That is scum of the earth, cowardly shit that honestly brought a tear to my eye. Forget being ejected from the game.

That type of shit should be an automatic lifetime ban from every Major League Baseball stadium. I really wish someone would have released the name of the person who did that. They deserve to be shamed on every corner of the internet.

Obviously, Marte has every reason to be emotional. His mother, Elpidia Valdez, died in a tragic car crash in the Dominican Republic eight years ago, a loss that forced him to step away from the team.

He’s shared publicly just how much her memory means to him. For some anonymous heckler to weaponize that pain? That’s not a fan of anything. That’s fucking disgusting.

It’s especially disappointing considering how good Ketel Marte has been.

He’s hitting .320 with 15 home runs and has arguably been the D-backs’ MVP through the first half of the season.

The guy shows up, plays hard, and carries himself with class and having to go through something like this is unacceptable.

Hats off to the D-backs for rallying around their teammate and getting the win. More importantly, props to Torey Lovullo for calling it out.

This stuff shouldn’t be tolerated, excused, or forgotten.

Good on security for throwing the clown out. Shame on him for showing up in the first place.
