Jimmy Rollins American Century Classic Hole In One

ACE ALERT: Phillies legend Jimmy Rollins drains a hole-in-one at the American Century Classic, wins a boat

Some guys are just built for the spotlight, and Philly legend Jimmy Rollins proved once again that he still knows how to deliver when it matters—this time with a pitching wedge in his hand instead of a bat.

Rollins was the big winner on Saturday at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course—not because he’s in contention for the title (he’s not), but because he aced the par-3 12th hole and walked away with a brand-new boat after hitting one of the sweetest shots you’ll see all summer.

Most are just there for the vibes, maybe a few solid shots, a cold beverage or five, and hopefully not a shank on national TV. Not Jimmy Rollins. He stepped up to the 139-yard par-3 12th, saw a boat waiting as a prize, and calmly fired a dart into the cup.

That swing was as smooth as Fred Couples on a Sunday.

It was the first hole-in-one of J-Roll’s life, and he made it count. Absolutely pure swing, stuck the 139-yard tee shot, and watched it spin back into the cup like it had a GPS tracker on it. That’s when the party started. Rollins sprinted up the tee box, pointed at the boat, and jumped in like he just hit a walk-off bomb in October.

J-Roll has been out on the golf course for a while now. Last year, over on our golf website, Better Rounds, we dove into his swing and took a closer look at his scores. You can check that out on the link below.

The shot doesn’t count for much on the leaderboard—Rollins finished the day T45, well behind leaders Joe Pavelski and Taylor Twellman in the modified Stableford format—but who cares? Pavelski might win the trophy, but Rollins won the dock.

That hole-in-one makes it three years in a row someone has won a boat with an ace on 12 at the American Century. Tim Brown did it last year. Steph Curry did it in 2023. Now it’s Jimmy’s turn. Apparently that boat giveaway hole is turning into Augusta’s 12th at Amen Corner—if Amen Corner gave you a pontoon and bragging rights for life.

It’s not always easy for baseball players to make that transition to golf. You’ve got dudes with vicious hacks who can absolutely vaporize a drive but have the touch of a brick when it comes to finesse. That doesn’t apply to Jimmy Rollins. That tempo looked like it came straight out of a Tour training video.

Waggle, breathe, swing, draino.

Here in Philly, we know damn well what Jimmy Rollins is. World Series Champion. Check. National League MVP. Check. Greatest shortstop in Philadelphia Phillies history. Check. Not even up for debate, and now, you can add “boat winner via hole-in-one” to his already Hall of Fame resume.

Jimmy Rollins is a certified Philly legend. He was that dude in the batter’s box, and now he’s that dude on the tee box. Some guys talk about it. Other guys just drop aces and win boats.
