Paul George says signing with the Charlotte Hornets would end his career, forgets he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers

Welcome back to Podcast P: Look Who’s Talking, the show where Paul George steps up to the mic and casually obliterates any remaining self-awareness he has left. In the latest edition, PG13 decided to randomly take a blowtorch to the Charlotte Hornets.

I don’t blame Paul George, he just had another offseason surgery and is probably all hopped up on medications so why not get behind a mic and start chatting shit? Seriously, what else are you gonna do during a quiet NBA offseason?

Paul George says his career would be over with if he went to Charlotte

“There’s no winning culture there. My career is over if I go there,” George said of the Hornets, probably while forgetting he hasn’t played past the second round since Barack Obama was president.

Paul George undergoes successful knee surgery, confirming that I am in purgatory

Paul George is not wrong.

The Hornets have been a basketball purgatory for two decades. No playoff series wins since 2002, no 50-win seasons since the late 1990s, and they’ve spent the last three years hovering around “G-League team in disguise” status. So yeah, Charlotte’s been rough.

We should however, pump the brakes. I honestly debated even writing it out because I truly do not have the heart to tell him but screw it. Much like Paul George, I’ll keep the content rolling all Summer long.

Paul George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. As much as I hate to admit it, that’s a team with equal postseason success over the last 25 years.

The last time either Philly or Charlotte made the Conference Finals? 2001. That’s Allen Iverson vs. Vince Carter territory. That’s dial-up internet, TRL, and frosted tips territory.

And yet, George talked like he just inked a deal with the 2016 Warriors.

If the Sixers are a “winning culture,” it’s only because they had $211 million reasons to convince George they are. If Charlotte had dropped that bag, he’d be in a teal and purple jersey faster than you can say “Buzz City.”

Instead, George gets to claim he signed in Philly for the culture, while pretending like he didn’t just do it for the money. As if the Sixers haven’t spent the last five years getting bounced by teams with worse rosters and better chemistry.

It’s like Paul George actually believes that joining Joel Embiid in Philly, with their braindead GM and really, cursed basketball franchise screams fun.

Joel Embiid’s interview with ESPN shows an on-going feud with the 76ers Front Office, a locker room rat, fractured relationships, and an updated, murky timeline to return

Paul George has dealt with injuries and looked noticeably cooked when he did play for years. Then immediately after signing in Philly, he got hurt again. So I don’t know. If it was me, I wouldn’t be taking about which team could end his career when it appears to be over and the Philadelphia 76ers are quite literally a disgraced franchise.

It’s hard to figure out what George was trying to accomplish here. Shade the Hornets? Cool, easy target. It’s like throwing stones from a glass treatment table. You left the Clippers, who never figured it out. You joined the Sixers, who also never figure it out. And now you’re dragging a rebuilding team you never even played for.

The truth is, Paul George is one of the most talented wings of his generation. He’s a Hall of Famer, no question. When it comes to public commentary, he might be the most unintentionally hilarious guy in the league.

His podcast is just one long game of “Wait, did he really just say that?”

Honestly, bless him for it.
