Pirates fans showed up big for Mac Miller Bobblehead Day and were selling them on eBay before the first pitch
The Pittsburgh Pirates haven’t exactly been a hot ticket this year, but Mac Miller changed that from the afterlife. Saturday night’s game at PNC Park brought out a massive crowd thanks to a Mac Miller bobblehead giveaway.
The Pirates handed them out to the first 20,000 fans to honor the late rapper and Pittsburgh native, and people started lining up as early as 8 a.m. to make sure they got one. For context, the Pirates could offer a free yacht ride down the Allegheny and still not draw that kind of early line for a night game against the Reds.
The lines for the Pirates Mac Miller Bobblehead Giveaway
Obviously, Mac Miller meant something to Pittsburgh and fans far outside the baseball world. It was part tribute, part cultural event, and part reselling frenzy. Naturally, the second those bobbleheads landed in people’s hands, they also landed on eBay. Some listings went up for over $200 before the first pitch.

The stadium was packed and easily one of the biggest crowds the Pirates will see all season. I wouldn’t say it was for the actual game, however. The majority of fans in attendance used their time at PNC Park to snag a Mac Miller bobble head and (rightfully) chant horrible things about Bob Nutting.
Fans have long had a complicated relationship with ownership, and now that the stands were full, you better believe the boo birds were out too.
Regardless, shoutout Pittsburgh for showing out for its own, even if it has to do so under protest of its baseball team. Mac Miller brought people together. The Pirates just happened to be there too.
