Phillies are now linked to Eugenio Suarez and I’m ready to burn the farm, Marsh, and Rojas to have Ketel Marte added to the trade package
Eugenio Suárez to the Phillies? Inject it directly into my veins.
Jon Heyman tossed out the Phillies as a potential fit for Suárez and it didn’t take long for people to start acting like absolute morons online. You’ve got people saying Suárez “doesn’t fit” this roster, which is funny considering the man is slugging .593 with 36 homers.
That’s not just a fit. That’s a baseball romance that’s so obvious it hurts.
Jon Heyman says the Phillies are a potential fit for Eugenio Suarez
Here’s how easy it is:
- Put Bryce Harper in left field
- Slide Alec Bohm over to first base.
- Hand third base to Eugenio Suárez and don’t look back.
It’s quite literally a no-brainer.
You just added 36 homers and another legitimate right-handed power bat to a lineup that’s been a little too lefty-heavy lately.
It’s literally a no-brainer.
I’m not even sure why this is up for debate. The only person who should be worried about this move is the fan’s necks from watching all the homers Suárez hits at Citizens Bank Park in October.
Sell the farm and get Eugenio Suarez AND Ketel Marte from the D-Backs
Phillies fans (me) started dreaming about a full-scale robbery of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Say hello to Ketel Marte. The 30-year-old second baseman is hitting .287 with a .955 OPS and 20 bombs.
Marte destroys the Phillies every time he sees them. Seriously. He’s hitting with .315 average with 5 homers, 14 RBIs, and 20 runs scored in just 36 games against the Phillies over his career.
Ah and yes, he’s under contract through 2031 on one of the most team-friendly deals in baseball. Which is why this is an absolute fever dream but it’s my fever dream, and I’m going to scream it from the rooftops anyway.
Trade them all. I’m serious. Burn the farm to the ground if it means you get Suárez and Marte in the same package. I’ll drive Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas to the airport myself. I’ll throw in ALL of the prospects too.
Hell, throw in the Phanatic if we have to.
This is the part of the trade deadline where logic goes to die and chaos reigns supreme. I want a World Series. I want to win so much that three years from today, I am perfectly content with another decade-long playoff drought.
Dave Dombrowski needs to wake up. We have (multiple) World Series to win. Go time.

Marsh, Stott, Abel and Aiden Miller for Suarez and Marte. Too much? Not enough?
Probably going to have to give up Crawford too but I’d do that
Like to keep Crawford for CF. Maybe they’d accept Escobar instead.
Great article. Like you, can’t understand why people will turn up their nose at the best RH power bat available because he doesn’t play corner OF. But, after the Judge news maybe play Suarez at DH and Schwarber in LF for the last two months.
