Schwarbombs and The Realmuto Revival fuel Phillies blowout win over Yankees
Finally, the Phillies lineup we were promised. The unstoppable Kyle Schwarber crushed two more home runs, the first one tallying his 1,000th career hit, and JT Realmuto delivered a dagger as The Fightins buried the Yankees 12-5.
The Yanks are unraveling in front of our eyes.
That’s now 14 errors in July and 32 homers allowed in the same span. Friday night featured four more bombs surrendered, including two Schwarbombs and JT Realmuto’s second in as many nights, this time a three-run dagger after an infield meltdown handed the Phillies the lead in the 7th.
Kyle Schwarber Career Hit No. 1,000
The Realmuto Revival ™️
JT Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber are on FIRE
In his last 120 at-bats, JT Realmuto is hitting a ridiculous .333 with two home runs and 13 RBI.
The Realmuto Revival is in full effect.
That Kyle Schwarber nuke in the fifth was career hit No. 1,000 and his 319th career homer, which now stands as the most home runs ever by a player at the 1,000-hit mark, surpassing Mark McGwire.

Business as usual. Four more hits (including a triple) and a walk marked his fourth four-hit game of the season. The man is moving like it’s 2021 again.
The Yankees actually led this game twice, 2-0 and 3-2, but they keep playing like a team being held together with scotch tape. That seventh inning summed it all up.
Judge trapped a sinking liner, Castellanos beat out an infield single, Paul Goldschmidt airmailed a throw, and Realmuto hit a ball that still hasn’t landed.
The Yankees clawed back with a Volpe homer and a Judge sac fly to make it 6-5, but Schwarber shut the door in the eighth with his second nuke of the night, his sixth homer in seven games since the All-Star break.
Kyle Schwarber on a heater. I don’t have any other words to describe it.
This was the kind of win that reminds you what this Phillies team is capable of when the bats are clicking. Some consistency would be nice but I wouldn’t hold your breath.
As for New York they’re now 5.5 games back of the surging Blue Jays and slowly choking away a once-commanding AL East lead.
Next up for the Phillies:
