John Kruk takes a savage shot at Angel Reese during Phillies vs. White Sox broadcast
John Kruk is a Philadelphia treasure, but let’s be real, the guy’s a national treasure. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to him on a Phillies broadcast, you already know exactly what I’m talking about. And today? He just stuffed that treasure chest with even more broadcasting gold, casually tossing some subtle (but beautiful) shade at Angel Reese.
Now, as the official Caitlin Clark blogger of The Liberty Line, I fully endorse this moment and am here to blog it into eternity. Before we get into the details, though, let me make one thing very clear: I don’t personally dislike Angel Reese. I just can’t stand the way she carries herself off the court. And to be blunt, her play style is borderline painful to watch.
Anyhow, John Kruk was on the call during the Phillies’ game in Chicago when he casually joked about missing a shot and grabbing the rebound. Sounds normal, right? Until he added the finishing touch:

It was said with perfect comedic timing. No malice. Just classic Kruk being Kruk and landing a direct hit on one of the most polarizing figures in women’s basketball right now.
Look, this isn’t just about one joke. This is about how far the hype machine around Angel Reese has gone off the rails. She genuinely went and trademarked the word “MeBounds.” I wish I were joking.
Let me get this straight: we’re branding the fact that you miss a ton of shots and grab your own rebound? That’s the legacy we’re chasing now?
I get it. Market yourself. Secure the bag. But come on. “MeBounds” is one of the cringiest, most self-aware-but-not-really moves I’ve seen from an athlete in years.
The Best Part About This…
There’s only one way this story plays out for me as the self-proclaimed Caitlin Clark superfan (and yes, I’m dead serious about that. Go check out some of my other blogs).

Once Philadelphia finally gets a WNBA team, my dream scenario would be Caitlin Clark joining the squad. But in a sick and twisted twist of fate, I could totally see Angel Reese ending up here instead… forcing me to root for her purely out of hometown loyalty.
Who knows, maybe we could even get John Kruk on the broadcast team. Though let’s be honest, that’s probably a long shot. Someone like Kate Scott feels more in line with what the WNBA is going for.
Side note: While I am a diehard Philly sports fan. When it comes to the WNBA, I only root for whichever team Caitlin Clark plays for. Sorry ya’ll.
