ESPN hires Katie Feeney, who got CeeDee Lamb to admit Eagles fans are better than Cowboys fans

Katie Feeney, the content creator who got Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to publicly say Eagles fans “got it” when it comes to passion, is taking her talents to ESPN.

Back in February, Feeney tossed Lamb the easiest softball imaginable: Which fanbase is more passionate, Eagles or Cowboys?

Without hesitation, CeeDee Lamb picked Philly. Why? Well, obviously that’s the correct answer but as a member of the Cowboys, I think everyone was shocked he admitted it. The clip is still going viral today and has been locked in the Eagles-Cowboys war chest forever.

Katie Feeney’s only 22 years old, which means she started college after the pandemic. Feel old yet? She’s a Penn State grad with a degree in broadcast journalism, and she’s already checked off more career milestones than most people twice her age.

Feeney became the NFL’s first-ever “social media correspondent” with the Washington Commanders, spent time working for the White House during the Biden administration (yikes), and now she’s headed to Bristol to join ESPN.

You don’t have to cut your teeth covering high school field hockey in some small-town paper for peanuts. If you can build an audience like Katie Feeney, who has already racked up 14 million followers, the big networks will come knocking. Being young and photogenic doesn’t hurt, but the game now is reach, engagement, and virality.

Sports journalism? That’s a dying term. We’re all “content creators” now, and the lines are completely blurred. Reporters, influencers, YouTubers — it’s all the same lane, and if you can drive traffic, you’re hired.
