Kyle Schwarber homers twice, drives in six as Phillies humiliate Orioles 13-3
Ladies and gentlemen, Kyle Schwarber is on another planet right now. Two homers. Six RBI. Forty bombs on the season and an MVP chant that shook Citizens Bank Park like it was late October.

The Phillies turned Monday night into a South Philly block party, absolutely obliterating the Baltimore Orioles 13-3.
Schwarber’s first nuke, a two-run shot into the second deck, tied the game at three in the third inning. His second was the backbreaker.
MVP MVP MVP – Kyle Schwarber
A grand slam in the sixth, No. 40 on the year, off Yaramil Hiraldo that had 41,000 people losing their minds and wondering if we’re watching the National League MVP in real time.

And that wasn’t even the only sixth-inning highlight. Harrison Bader, who just got here last week, decided to introduce himself properly to Philadelphia by breaking a 3-3 tie with a three-run bomb of his own.
First hit as a Phillie is a dinger, absolute statement piece.
Between Bader’s arrival and Jhoan Durán’s fire-breathing entrances, Dave Dombrowski’s trade deadline might age just fine.
Bryce Harper also joined the home run party (No. 17), and Edmundo Sosa and Weston Wilson went back-to-back in the eighth just to make sure Baltimore really knew what time it was.
By the time the dust settled, it was 13-3 and the Orioles were begging for the clock to run out.
Jesús Luzardo (10-5) gave up a couple homers to Tyler O’Neill and Jordan Westburg, but otherwise cruised through six innings. The Mets lost in extras to Cleveland, which means the Phillies now hold a 1.5-game lead in the NL East.
Kyle Schwarber Masterclass
Schwarber has now reached 40 homers in three of his four seasons in Philly. Last year’s 38 is already in the rearview mirror, and we’re still in early August. The guy’s a cheat code.
Up next: Phillies go for the series win tomorrow night with Taijuan Walker (3-5, 3.82 ERA) on the hill against Baltimore’s Dean Kremer (8-7, 4.27 ERA).
