WATCH: Former Phillies pitcher Tyler Phillips has an elite entrance for the Miami Marlins
Quick update on former Philadelphia Phillies prospect Tyler Phillips, who’s having himself a solid season down in Florida with the Miami Marlins.
While there’s plenty of conversation right now about entrances for relievers in Major League Baseball, Tyler Phillips has taken a different approach when his name is called for the Marlins.
Tyler Phillips Slapping The Shit Out Of His Face
Coincidentally, I do the same thing every morning as I pull myself out of a drunken slumber to get my ass to work.Â
So yes, I absolutely love this from Phillips. I really wish the Phillies bullpen was stacked with absolute animals like this. Those aren’t even love taps. Phillips is quite literally smacking the shit out of his own face before taking the mound.
Tyler Phillips is pitching his heart out in Miami
It has to be hard getting “up” to pitch for the Marlins, especially when you started out as a member of your hometown Philadelphia Phillies. Maybe slapping the shit out of your face is the only way to lock in and find any type of energy in Miami?
The results are clearly paying off too. Phillips has been decent for the Marlins this year. He’s 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA over 38 appearances. He has one save, 37 strikeouts, and a 1.22 WHIP over 56.2 innings pitched.Â
We all love Jhoan Duran’s entrance but Tyler Phillips’ slap routine is a close second.Â
Cristopher Sánchez shoves, Schwarber ties Ohtani as Phillies blank Tigers 2-0
Personally, I will never forget the Tyler Phillips Game when he threw a complete game shutout against at the time, the first place Cleveland Guardians.
