Great: Artificial Intelligence researchers say there’s a 1 in 5 chance we don’t survive our own invention
At some point over the past year or two, artificial intelligence went from a futuristic “what if” to a full-blown “oh no” and most people didn’t even flinch.
We’re living through the most rapid technological shift in modern history, and it’s moving so fast that even the people building it are starting to panic.
Listen, I’ve been on The Liberty Line for years at this point trying to tell people that artificial intelligence is coming and it will most likely mean the end of human civilization after it becomes sentient and can work to protect itself faster than humans can work to destroy it.
Check this video out. Shit is grim.
Unfortunately, no one ever wants to listen to me but I’ll keep writing until someone decides to because it’s only the fate of human civilization on the line, ya know?
I guess this is what happens when you let a bunch of computer science nerds run rampant while the political elite are hell bent on taking the next step in human evolution by turning us all into robot-human hybrids.
But no, I’m the crazy one while everyone is on social media ripping guys like Elon Musk to shreds when he has been trying to warn us about this A.I. threat for years.
This reminds me of the other story a few years ago where Facebook “shut down” (doubt it) their entire A.I. program after the bots started writing code of their own that developers couldn’t understand.
Facebook told everyone they shut it down following the discovery but I think we can all agree that Zuckerberg did the complete opposite and has probably been developing even smarter intelligence in some remote location without anyone knowing.
Now, all the creators of the artificial intelligence are warning us about it…? Cool.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, isn’t exactly the kind of guy who throws around doomsday predictions but even he said, “The 2030s are likely going to be wildly different from any time that has come before.”
That wasn’t in some sci-fi interview. That was him trying to warn us with a straight face. I don’t like that because if it’s going to get bad, roughly five years from now, then maybe someone should pull the fucking plug.
Right? I mean I can’t understand why we are allowing this to happen. If it’s really that bad and the creators of the artificial intelligence are saying this is going to be bad, then why are they creating it and issuing warnings about it in the first place.
It wasn’t just Sam Altman sounding the alarms either.
Anthropic’s Dario Amodei is throwing out numbers like 50% of all entry-level white-collar jobs getting wiped out in the next 1–5 years.
Geoffrey Hinton aka the “Godfather of AI” said it’s all moving way faster than he expected.
Ford’s CEO said AI is going to replace half of the country’s white-collar workforce.
Does anyone care about this shit? Sure as hell doesn’t look like it.
I think people need to be made aware that it’s not that the next wave is coming. We’re already swimming in the waves. This is LITERALLY THE WAVE and most people are still staring at the horizon while it crashes right over them.
So what happens now?
Things are just going to get worse. The scary part isn’t even the job loss. That’s basically the pregame warmup. What comes next and how little control we have over any of it will ultimately lead us to our demise.
AI safety researchers, the people who understand this stuff, while also leading the general population on a human death march by creating this new intelligence say there’s a 1 in 5 chance we don’t survive our own invention.
Not metaphorically. Literally.
They’re talking about superintelligent systems more capable, more strategic, and evolving way faster than we can manage. No brakes. No kill switch. Just math, machine learning, and the very real possibility that we’ll be too slow to fix whatever we break.
That sounds fucking miserable and really, there’s no way out of it. At this point, we’re not just behind the curve. We’re curved out of the loop entirely.
If this is the future, we better hope it likes us. I keep thinking about that Christopher Nolan movie “The Creator” which depicted artificial intelligence, developed by humans, that became sentient and realized that those same humans were doing more harm than good and really not needed anymore.
That’s when we all fall down from the top of the food chain. We’re no longer the hunters. We are the hunted and unfortunately, we are being hunted by fucking robots who have no use for us anymore.
Anyways, I could go on and on about this shit. At the very least, I’m on record with the resistance, warning everyone five years before Doomsday arrives. If you don’t want to get on board and stop the takeover, that’s on you.
In a future post, I’ll drop the GPS Coordinates of a remote location, somewhere deep in the Appalachians, where we can unplug and pray for the best.
