Pete Alonso Little League Hate

WATCH: Little Leaguers from Upper Uwchlan Township, PA were loving Pete Alonso’s strikeout

I am happy to report that here in Philadelphia, we are teaching the kids generational Pete Alonso and New York Mets hate.

Sometimes you just have to appreciate the next generation carrying the torch. During last night’s Little League Classic between the Mets and Mariners, the Mid-Atlantic squad out of Upper Uwchlan Township, Pennsylvania proved that Philly fans truly are built different.

Pete Alonso struck out, and those kids lost their minds celebrating like they’d just watched Bryce Harper hit a bomb in October.

Philly Fans Start Young

That’s the kind of energy we like to see.

The Phillies might be dealing with their own headaches right now, but through it all, they’re still sitting five games ahead of the Mets in the NL East. Even the kids from Downingtown know who the real villains are.

The Result That Doesn’t Matter

Alonso ended up going 1-for-4 in the game, but his whiff will live on as a defining moment for a bunch of 12-year-olds who now officially understand that in Philadelphia, Mets tears are currency.

Sure, the Mets beat the Mariners 7-3. But the scoreboard in Williamsport didn’t matter nearly as much as watching the next wave of Philly sports fans dunk on New York. If that’s what’s coming up behind us, the city’s in good hands.
