JT Realmuto’s 8th inning blast leads Phillies past Mariners
JT Realmuto delivered the knockout punch with a no-doubt two-run bomb in the eighth off Matt Brash that sent CBP into a frenzy. Realmuto reached base three times, drove in three runs, and reminded everyone why he’s The Best Catcher in Baseball.
The Phillies just keep finding ways to win, and on Tuesday night it was the long ball that carried them past the Mariners, 6-4, at Citizens Bank Park.

Between the homer, an RBI single, and somehow reaching on yet another catcher’s interference (the Phils’ third in a month), Realmuto owned the night but Kyle Schwarber wasted no time getting things started, blasting his 44th homer of the season in the first inning.
He’s now leading the National League in homers and pacing all of baseball in RBI with 104. Bryson Stott added his own fireworks with his eighth homer, while Bryce Harper chipped in with a sac fly.
Cristopher Sánchez was filthy again. The lefty tied his career high with 12 strikeouts, allowing just two runs over 6.1 innings. The Mariners had no answers for him, and even though the bullpen made it a little stressful, Realmuto’s blast gave the Phillies all they needed.
David Robertson picked up the win in his first home appearance since Game 5 of the 2022 World Series, and Jhoan Duran shut the door in the ninth for his 22nd save (and sixth with Philly since the deadline).
Seattle had a couple moments. Randy Arozarena and Eugenio Suárez each drove in runs, and Cal Raleigh doubled while inching closer to the single-season home run record for a catcher (he’s at 47). But the Mariners have now dropped six of their last seven and looked completely outmatched when it mattered.
Up Next for the Phillies
The series continues Wednesday afteroon: Luis Castillo (8-6, 3.48 ERA) takes the mound for Seattle against Jesús Luzardo (11-6, 4.21 ERA) for the Phillies.
