NSFW: Padres security guard tackles a kid from behind for running onto the field

This Padres fan learned a valuable lesson last night. You simply cannot run onto the field during a professional sporting event. If you do happen to find yourself on the field, then you absolutely deserve whatever comes next.

I don’t give a shit if you’re a drunk adult, a TikTok clout-chaser, or some pint-sized rascal who thought this was “the moment”, you just can’t do that. Once you breach the barriers of the stands, you’re fair game. Security is now on high-alert to neutralize the threat.

That’s exactly what we witnessed during the Padres game last night. I will say, neutralizing a 12-year-old with a blindside kill shot to the spine isn’t the right move when he’s already being restrained. This Padres security guard unnecessarily rocked this poor kid for running on the field and he wasn’t even man enough to hit him from the front.

Disgusting behavior, really.

Like I said, if the security guard wanted to meet this kid head-on and lay him out with a proper form tackle, I would have been applauding the effort. However, hitting him from behind while the kid was already being restrained is just evil. That was a Jalen Carter sack on Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX.

That kid wasn’t doing anything. It’s not minimizing the threat and keeping players safe when everything was basically done and over with before this security guard comes in full steam ahead to deliver an unnecessary kill shot.

The guard comes flying in, just unloading on this unsuspecting child’s back. The kid folds like a lawn chair, and you can almost hear the security guy’s inner monologue:

“Finally… my moment.”

It’s not suspension-worthy. Hell, it’s not even fine-worthy, but someone should talk to that security guard and tell him to chill the fuck out. A little humility wouldn’t hurt.

The Bigger Picture

Security has to take every single fan who runs onto the field seriously. You never know if it’s just some brat trying to go viral or somebody with actual bad intentions toward players. So yeah, tackle away but if you’re going to bring the hammer down, at least do it clean.

This looked like a dude who knew he couldn’t ever win a real fight straight up, so he took the freebie shot when nobody expected it. A “last call at the bar” kind of hit.

The kid will live, the crowd got a viral moment, and that security guard is probably watching the replay on loop in the break room. Sometimes baseball just gives us the kind of chaos you can’t script.
