WATCH: Kansas State QB Avery Johnson’s dad and brother fought after Wildcats’ loss in Ireland
Kansas State’s trip to Ireland is going to be remembered for more than just a football game. According to multiple reports, there was a postgame confrontation at Aviva Stadium involving Mark Johnson, the father of Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson and another man believed to be his eldest son.
Witnesses say the conflict turned physical. One source confirmed no arrests were made, though there is reportedly video of the altercation and at least one eyewitness tied to Kansas State athletics.
So yes, while Avery Johnson and the Wildcats were flying across the Atlantic with a heartbreaking loss to Iowa State, 24-21, his family was making headlines of their own.

The Game Itself
Avery Johnson actually played well. The sophomore QB completed 21 of 30 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown to his line.
He kept the Wildcats alive in what turned into a tough, grind-it-out Aer Lingus College Football Classic but the final score still favored the Cyclones, who spoiled Kansas State’s international showcase.
Unfortunately, none of that is what people are talking about. Instead, the story is about what went down in the stands. Father vs. son. Postgame chaos. And a fanbase left shaking their heads wondering what the hell just happened.
Family fights aren’t exactly new to sports, but when they happen immediately after a loss and in front of the entire traveling fan base, it’s next-level embarrassing.
The Wildcats now have to regroup not only from the defeat, but from the headlines overshadowing their quarterback’s actual performance.
College football is back and apparently, so is the drama.
