WATCH: Cristopher Sanchez attacked Jordan Romano last night in the Phillies dugout
The Phillies came into Citi Field up seven games in the NL East, and the Mets shaved one off with a 13-3 pounding on Monday night.
Cristopher Sánchez, who’s been nails all season, finally cracked. He gave up a season-high six runs and eight hits in just 5 1/3 innings, his shortest outing since May. Meanwhile, the Mets went 11-for-19 with runners in scoring position.
Sanchez lasted just 5.1 innings, allowing eight hits, six runs (five earned), and three walks while striking out four.
David Robertson entered in relief and pitched just 0.2 innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.
From there, Topper and company basically waived the white flag. For whatever reason, the Phillies sent Jordan Romano to the mound who expectedly was complete ass.
In one inning of work, Romano coughed up two hits, four earned runs, and a walk while striking out one. His season ERA is now a miserable 8.23 and I literally have no clue how he’s still on the Phillies’ roster.
Cristopher Sanchez snapped in the dugout, attacking Jordan Romano.

Typically you don’t see that type of aggression from a Phillies pitcher in the dugout but I think we all can understand why Sanchez would snap like that, right?
The Phillies turn to Jesús Luzardo (12-5, 4.10 ERA) on Tuesday night, while the Mets send Sean Manaea (1-2, 5.15 ERA). The Phils still hold a six-game cushion in the NL East, but the Mets have seven head-to-head matchups left. This thing could get dicey if they don’t clean it up quick.
