Ranger Suárez crowned NL Player of the Week after back-to-back gems against Mariners and Nats
Ranger Suárez is back in form and the league just took notice. The Phillies’ lefty was named National League Player of the Week after stringing together two of his best starts of the season, a welcome reminder that this rotation still has teeth even without Zack Wheeler.

The Bounce-Back Week
After a rocky stretch post-All-Star break, Ranger Suárez flipped the switch. Monday night against Seattle, he fanned 10 hitters across 6.2 innings, giving up just two earned runs and, maybe most importantly, handing out zero free passes. That matched his career-high in strikeouts… until he outdid himself six days later.
Sunday against the Nationals, Suárez looked untouchable: seven scoreless innings, three hits, no walks, and a career-best 11 strikeouts. It was vintage Ranger — calm, efficient, and absolutely dealing.
Ranger Suarez is the Stabilizer
The Phillies desperately needed a stabilizing week from their rotation. Wheeler’s absence looms large, and the back end of the staff has been shaky. Suárez’s dominant run couldn’t have been better timed.
The Recognition
I appreciate a little national spotlight for a guy who often goes overlooked, but whose impact is impossible to ignore when he’s on. The Phillies don’t need Suárez to be Wheeler. They just need him to be the steady, big-game Ranger he’s always been. If this week was any indication, they’ve got exactly that.
