Alec Bohm’s sac fly Phillies past Braves, 2-1
The Phillies didn’t need fireworks on Friday night, just a little small ball and some clutch pitching. A night after dropping 19 runs on Atlanta, Philly leaned on Alec Bohm’s eighth-inning sacrifice fly to scratch out a 2-1 win Friday at Truist Park.
Kyle Schwarber, fresh off his four-homer performance, got the rally going with a one-out single in the eighth. Bryce Harper followed with a knock that sent Schwarber hustling to third, setting the stage for Bohm to lift a fly to right off Pierce Johnson that brought home the go-ahead run.

From there, the bullpen slammed the door. Orion Kerkering snagged the win with a scoreless eighth, and trade-deadline prize Jhoan Duran made it look easy in the ninth for his eighth save with the Phils—and 24th overall this season.
Ranger Suárez had to grind through traffic all night, scattering 10 hits over six innings but escaping with just one run allowed thanks to three double plays.
Matt Strahm and David Robertson bridged the middle innings with clean frames before Kerkering and Duran finished the job.

The Braves racked up 12 hits—three of them from Matt Olson—but managed only one run, spoiling a strong seven-inning effort from Bryce Elder.
Meanwhile, Schwarber got MVP chants from the Philly faithful in attendance and added a single and a walk to his stat line. He now leads the NL with 49 bombs and 119 RBIs. Harper stretched his hitting streak to 12 games with a crafty bunt single against the shift.
Play of the Night: Nick Castellanos
The Phillies, sitting on top of the NL East, now send Cristopher Sánchez (11-5, 2.66 ERA) to the mound Saturday night. Atlanta’s starter is Chris Sale.
