Phillies storm all the way back in Milwaukee, beat the Brewers 10-8
The Phillies opened up September with the type of win that tells you everything you need to know about this team’s guts.
Down four early? No problem. Blow a late lead in the eighth? Doesn’t matter.
The Fightins still clawed out a 10-8 victory over the Brewers in Milwaukee on Monday, cutting the their NL-best record lead to 4.5 games and keeping their own NL East cushion at six over the Mets.
Taijuan Walker’s mess, Harper and Turner’s answer
Taijuan Walker didn’t exactly ease anyone’s stress level to start this one. First pitch he threw was sent into the seats by Brice Turang. By the time Walker was done, he’d coughed up five runs in four innings, putting the Phils in an early hole against Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski.
Surprisingly, the offense doesn’t go away quietly.
Bryce Harper finally broke through with a solo blast in the fourth, then Trea Turner chased Misiorowski with a two-run triple in the fifth. That cracked the game open and set the stage for the chaos to follow.

Harrison Bader won’t cool off
Since coming over at the deadline, Harrison Bader has been exactly the shot of energy this lineup needed. He ripped not one, but two RBI doubles on the day, the second being a go-ahead rope down the line in the eighth that felt like the dagger… until Milwaukee tied it right back up in the bottom half.
Brandon Marsh delivers the final blow
Enter Brandon Marsh, who’s been yo-yoed in and out of the lineup lately but came alive with four hits in this one. His ninth-inning RBI single scored pinch-runner Garrett Stubbs to finally put the Phils ahead for good.
Welcome to September Baseball
So where does this all leave the Phils?
- NL East: Six games clear of the Mets (74-64). Division still firmly in control.
- Top seed in NL: 4.5 games back of the Brewers (85-54). Going to take a run, but this series is the shot to close that gap.
- Second bye race: 1.5 games ahead of the Dodgers (78-59) for the NL’s No. 2 seed. Padres (76-61) lurking just two back of LA.
The Dodgers have an easier schedule down the stretch, so the fight for that bye is probably the most realistic and most important race right now.
