WATCH: Man gets lost on top of the massive American Flag rollout at MetLife ahead of Steelers-Jets game

Week 1 in the NFL always delivers, but I don’t think anyone had this one on their bingo card. During the pregame flag rollout at MetLife Stadium ahead of the Steelers-Jets game, one poor soul found himself completely tangled up, face down on Old Glory while 80,000 fans looked on.

Everyone else kept unrolling like pros, and this guy was stuck out there looking like he was trying to crawl out of a Fortnite storm. It was brutal.

Some people online are convinced he did it on purpose. I don’t buy it.

Why would anyone want to A) desecrate the flag and B) humiliate themselves on national TV during Week 1 in front of that many people at MetLife?

The far more likely scenario is that he tripped, got clipped by the rollout, and suddenly became part of the fabric… literally.

No matter the intent, the optics at MetLife were rough.

Dude went down as collateral damage to the pageantry. One second you’re helping honor the country, the next you’re buried in polyester with no escape.

The NFL season is a grind, and apparently so is being part of the opening ceremony.

Tough, tough scene.
