Quentin Grimes tossed a picture up on Instagram of him hooping in a 76ers jersey, could mean a contract is coming
Quentin Grimes tossed a picture up on Instagram today of him hooping in a 76ers jersey, which I’m going to take as him knowing that Philly is the obvious landing spot ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.
The Sixers grabbed Quentin Grimes from Dallas at the deadline, and he immediately proved he belonged. In extended run, he averaged 21.9 points per game, feasting on the opportunities left behind in a thinned-out rotation.
Now, the issue is money. The restricted free agent market is basically dead at this point. Most teams are capped out or have their rosters set. That leaves Quentin Grimes without the leverage he probably hoped for and the Sixers sitting in a great spot.
Quentin Grimes Potential Contract Numbers:
Bleacher Report projects the Sixers might keep his starting salary at around $12.5M on a 2-3 year deal. If not, he can sign his $8.7M qualifying offer, hit unrestricted free agency in 2026, and even get a built-in no-trade clause for this upcoming season. In that scenario, Grimes be betting on himself and turning down long-term security.
For the Sixers, this feels like a win-win.
Bring Quentin Grimes back cheap on a short-term deal, or keep him for one more year on the qualifying offer. Either way, Grimes is in Philly this season unless someone swoops in last-minute with an offer sheet, which at this point, seems highly unlikely.
I get the uncertainty from Grimes’ perspective. He flashed real scoring upside, but there’s not much market right now. Playing another year in Philly, on a winning team, could boost his stock heading into 2026 but only if he plays big minutes and keeps producing.
The Quentin Grimes Sixers Jersey Post:
I have no clue what kids do these days on Instagram. I guess it could be a signal that he’s set on running it back with the Sixers. It could also be a leverage move to show the front office that he wants to stay here, or maybe it’s just a kid posting a photo “on the gram.”
Either way, it looks more and more likely Quentin Grimes will be back with the Sixers this season, so that’s cool.
