Ben Simmons loses his agent after refusing to play for the New York Knicks, continues to hold out until the 76ers come knocking
Ben Simmons’ agent just cut ties, and honestly, good riddance. Bernie Lee is a total moron for thinking Ben Simmons should entertain the New York Knicks of all places.
The Knicks? Please.
That rat-infested fanbase, that disaster-class of a franchise, that cursed building where basketball dreams go to die? Again, please.
Respect to Ben Simmons for tuning that out.
If you really think about it, this might not even be about the Knicks at all. Maybe this is a backdoor message to the Sixers. Maybe Ben Simmons is showing he can be loyal, that he’d rather sit at home than throw on a Knicks jersey, and that the only real resolution here is an inevitable return to Philadelphia.
Crazy? Maybe. I’ve been right about Ben Simmons since the Sixers drafted him first overall and I’m going to bet on myself that I’m right yet again.
The alternative is believing Simmons is actually done with basketball at 29 years old after making $200 million. While his decline has been brutal, the NBA always finds ways to forgive talent. The Knicks don’t deserve him, the Clippers didn’t know what to do with him, and the Sixers… well, the story would write itself.
So yeah, let his agent bail. Let the Knicks beg. Simmons holding out until the Liberty Bell rings again in Philly is all-time redemption arc.
