WATCH: Mets DJ tells Citi Field to “Get The Party Started” immediately following the team getting shelled for six runs in 1st inning
The New York Mets got shelled all week long in South Philly. It resulted in a 4-game sweep at the hands of the Phillies, and last night, they were hoping to rebound back home against the Texas Rangers.
That did not happen. The Mets just got absolutely shelled for six runs in the top of the first inning, their playoff hopes crumbling before their eyes. So what does the in-stadium DJ do? He hops on the mic and tells the Citi Field crowd: “Let’s get the party started!”
Mets DJ: Get This Party Started!
I mean come on… lol
Get the party started? I mean come on, brother, the only party happening is in the Rangers dugout and every other team fighting for a NL Wild Card spot.
Mets misery + happy horseshit = perfect storm
Frank the Tank has been saying for years that the Mets are cursed and spend more time pumping fake energy into the crowd than they do winning baseball games.
Normally I’d right it off as a piece of content and the videos are simply for show, but you know what? It’s starting to look like he’s been right about the Mets all along and honestly, I couldn’t be happier.
Suffer, Frank The Tank. SUFFER.
I would never call for someone’s job and I definitely don’t care about anything to do with New York or the Mets organization, but that DJ committed a fireable offense by trying to hype up the crowd while Citi Field and their rat-infested fanbase in a downwards spiral.
Nobody needs dance teams and sound effects when your season is collapsing in front of you and sure as hell nobody needs a DJ chirping “get the party started” after your “phenom prospect” just got lit up in the first inning.
Maybe the DJ isn’t a baseball diehard. Maybe he’s just doing his shtick, spinning records, saying corny pump-up lines, treating it like a club gig instead of a ballgame. Maybe he doesn’t know any better.
But he definitely should.
That’s where the New York Mets “Common Sense Department” should come intervene. Looks like they desperately need someone whose only job is to step in and say, “Hey fellas, maybe don’t blast Pitbull and yell PARTY TIME when we’re already down six runs before most fans even sit down.”
At the very least, whoever groaned “Oh God” on the SNY broadcast has been paying attention. Perfect call and exactly what Mets fans were feeling in that moment.
Mets fans are just trying to keep pace for the last Wild Card spot

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are cruising down the stretch. They are absolutely destroying anyone who steps in their way. Last night, was the Royals, before that was the Mets. Let’s just hope they keep playing like this for the next month and we’ll be parading down Broad Street in November.
