Phillies Roll Past D-Backs 8-2: Bohm returns, Casty clutches up, Buehler shoves
The Phillies are red hot and not slowing down. Friday night in Arizona, Alec Bohm came off the injured list and immediately joined the hit parade, driving in three runs in his return as The Fightins beat the Diamondbacks 8-2.
Add in another dominant relief outing from Walker Buehler and it was another night where The Fightins looked every bit like a team built for October.
It didn’t start pretty. Taijuan Walker gave up a quick two runs in the first inning, including a solo blast by Ketel Marte. This Phillies didn’t blink.
Bohm cut into the lead in the second with an RBI double, and by the sixth, Weston Wilson pushed them ahead 3-2 with a run-scoring single.

From there, the bats broke it open late. Nick Castellanos kept his foot on the gas with a two-run homer to the bullpen in the eighth, Harrison Bader chipped in three hits including a solo shot, and Bohm capped the night with a two-run single.

Walker Buehler…? Amazing.
After washing out in Boston with a rough 5.45 ERA, the two-time All-Star looks completely reborn in red pinstripes. He delivered 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, escaping jams and keeping Arizona from clawing back into it.
He’s now given up just one run in 8 2/3 innings since joining the Phillies. For a team that’s lost Zack Wheeler and is piecing together pitching depth on the fly, this could be the sneaky difference-maker down the stretch.
The win was another gut punch to the Diamondbacks, who are running out of time and now sit three games behind the Mets for the final NL Wild Card spot with only eight left to play. The Phillies, meanwhile, have won 16 of their last 21 and look every bit like a team gearing up for a deep run in October.
Next up for the Phillies:
Aaron Nola takes the ball Saturday night against Arizona ace Zac Gallen. The Phillies are two games back of the Brewers for the top seed in the National League. Every night matters now.
