Jared McCain has a UCL tear, Windy warns of vague updates on Joel Embiid as the Sixers prepare for Media Day
Jared McCain just cannot stay healthy. According to reports, McCain tore the UCL in his right thumb during a workout on Thursday. He and the Sixers are “consulting specialists” on how to move forward, which in Philadelphia-speak means we’re about to get a whole lot of vague updates, non-answers, and timelines that magically never exist.
Jared McCain tears UCL in right thumb
To make matters worse, Sixers media day is tomorrow and Brian Windhorst is already telling fans not to expect anything solid on the Joel Embiid injury either. Beautiful. A roaring start to the 2025-26 season.
Maybe the front office thought those new black jerseys would distract from the organizational malpractice, but not so fast.
This especially stings for Jared McCain, who already missed significant time last year with a torn meniscus. Who knows, maybe Jared McCain is back around Halloween or maybe we’re strapping in for another Sixers injury saga.
Regardless, when Jared McCain does come back, it’s not like he’ll instantly have his NBA legs under him. Missing training camp and early-season practices is brutal for a young player. Meanwhile, Quentin Grimes just found himself the biggest leverage boost of his life heading into contract talks. Perfect timing.
But hey, at least we’ve got the Eagles and Phillies rolling right now, because the Sixers are already in midseason misery form and we haven’t even hit October.
