Hot Take Alert: Kirk Herbstreit says the Dodgers will ‘probably be in the NLCS in a few weeks’ on Thursday Night Football
Kirk Herbstreit embarrassed himself on the Thursday Night Football broadcast last night, as the Rams lost again, this time to the lowly 49ers in overtime. Herbstreit was looking ahead at what would be happening in the in Los Angeles over the next few weeks and basically said that the Dodgers would be playing in the NLCS by then.
Kirk Herbstreit talking out of his ass about the Dodgers
Yeah, I wouldn’t be too sure about that, Kirk Herbstreit.
This isn’t bulletin board material either, but let’s discuss.
It’s always interesting this time of year. So many people come out of the woodworks to jump on the baseball bandwagon, which don’t get me wrong, I’m not gatekeeping anything at all, but it is pretty corny when people in the media attempt to do that when clearly, they have no idea what they are even talking about.
Honestly, I’m not sure Kirk Herbstreit even knows how the MLB Postseason works. He probably doesn’t know that the Philadelphia Phillies, commonly known as The Fightins, are an absolute wagon.
The Fightins are battle-tested. They have made deep runs in the postseason and have also been bounced early-on. We’re talking four straight seasons of Red October from a 96-win team that made significant upgrades to their lineup, all while playing without their rotation anchor in Zack Wheeler.
The Phillies clubhouse is one of the closest-knit groups in all of professional sports because of their experience. Citizens Bank Park is hands down the BEST ballpark in all of baseball and one of the toughest places for an opposing team to play when the stakes get high.
Ah and not to mention, the Phillies are the No. 2 seed entering the NLDS. The Dodgers barely hung on to the No. 3 seed.
Last year, the Phillies beat up on the Dodgers throughout the regular season, posting a 4-1 record. This year, they went 4-2.
Bryce Harper is built for October. They call him “The Greatest Showman” for a reason and it’s because he absolutely dominates on the biggest of stages, under the brightest of lights.
Don’t take my word for it. Check the numbers.
Harper is batting .280 with 54 hits, 17 home runs, 34 RBIs and 41 runs scored in 53 games in the postseason in his career.
Anyways, Kirk Herbstreit is just another talking head, talking about things he shouldn’t be talking about. If anything he should have brought up that the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Los Angeles Rams already this season and the No. 2 seed Philadelphia Phillies are locked in and ready to deliver even more misery to the city of Los Angeles by handing the Dodgers a good ol’ ass kicking in the NLDS.
No one in Philadelphia is scared of the Dodgers. They are defending World Series champions. They are the visiting team in the NLDS. You want to talk about pressure and expectations? Keep that conversation in Los Angeles.
