“Get this loser off my team” – James Seltzer goes on a rant over Phillies player ahead of Game 3 vs. Dodgers

Call me crazy, but our beloved Phillies fanbase and sports talk radio stations love to overreact to a particular players actions and comments far too much.

I am obviously talking about Nick Castellanos. Is the guy perfect? Of course not, but at the end of the day, no one really is. It does feel like Casty is a playoff riser, especially in the NLDS, and if it wasn’t for his clutch double in Game 2, this Phillies team would be even more lifeless than they already are heading into Game 3 tonight in LA.

James Seltzer on Nick Castellanos

Nick Castellanos wasn’t worried about being reprimanded by fans

The fact that we still have to explain Nick Castellanos, his personality, and how he handles himself in front of the media is rather absurd. Anyone who knows the history should be able to immediately identify what Casty was actually saying and even if you don’t agree with his comments, there’s no denying the truth in his words.

When I saw the quotes, I didn’t think much of them. It was clear that Nick was complimenting the environment at Citizens Bank Park and acknowledging that it can be a gift and a curse in both dugouts.

Even playing field. Players are responsible for how the wind blows. The easiest of quotes to interpret, yet the media immediately framed it negatively.

That’s not slander. That’s honesty.

Again, It’s what makes Citizens Bank Park both the best and toughest place to play in October. The guy was explaining reality, not calling fans out.

Castellanos has been the Phillies’ best postseason hitter over the past three Octobers. Period. You don’t like hearing the truth? Tough sledding. Maybe you’re too emotional to navigate the massive highs and crushing lows of Philadelphia Phillies baseball.

Go cheer for the Philadelphia Union or join a discussion board about what Philly should name their WNBA team if that’s the case. I don’t know what to tell you. You’re not built for this and that of course, is not my problem.

Not to mention, if you really want to be mad at someone, go yell about Alec Bohm, who actually said something worth getting pissed about. That was probably the softest shit a third baseman, cleanup hitter, has ever said on camera.

Look, it’s no secret that the Phillies shit the bed in the NLDS for the second-straight season. Game 1 and 2 were winnable and there for the taking and our guys didn’t deliver.

Should Nick Castellanos say that type of stuff while we’re still battling in the NLDS? Probably not but it’s not like it was something completely out of right field (pun intended) that was shocking. He’s always been up front and has always provided answers from his own perspective.

Not everything has to be some insane overreaction. Sometimes, it just is what it is and we can all move on. Casty is going to be traded this offseason. He’s still one of the few guys providing a spark for this Phillies team when it matters most. Until the Phillies are told to go home because the Dodgers have reached the 3-win mark in the NLDS, it’s better off for all of us to fall in line and keep on fighting.

Apology: Nick Castellanos did not actually blame fans, Phillies In 5

Nick Castellanos directs blame towards Phillies fans after Game 2 loss, while I plan a fundamental Jihad of the Phillies franchise

On a bigger scale, is this really how we are going to let this era of Phillies baseball end? We’re just going to trash our guys who again, all equally have their own faults? I’d rather not. Plus, it’s always been Phillies In 5 against the Dodgers.

Time to fight. Leave the crying to Philly Sports Talk Radio.
