Jerry Jones tried to clown Rico Dowdle, then watched him torch the Cowboys for 239 yards from scrimmage in Panthers 30-27 win over Dallas
Some things in life are guaranteed. Death and taxes are a given, then there’s always Jerry Jones running his mouth before a Cowboys game, only to be embarrassingly humbled on national television.
To be fair, Rico Dowdle started (and finished) the whole situation. Ahead of the Panthers playing the Cowboys, he fired a warning shot to his previous team telling them to “buckle up” and saying that “they know” what’s coming.
Of course, Jerry Jones wasn’t going to let those comments go unnoticed.
He fired back at Rico Dowdle with a few jokes on 105.3 The Fan, sarcastically saying that his Cowboys need to “buckle up” against Dowdle and the Panthers and that he was having a hard time getting his guys to come to the field because they were “shaking” so badly.
Jerry Jones on Rico Dowdle and the Panthers:
I’m sure you could already guess what happened next…
Rico Dowdle absolutely cooked his former team. 239 yards from scrimmage, 183 of them on the ground, and a Panthers win, 30–27, over the world’s most self-destructive football team.
Rico Dowdle posted the most single-game scrimmage yards in franchise history
Classic Jerry Jones and the Cowboys
This is why Jerry Jones must never leave the NFL. Forget statues, forget Hall of Fame busts, science needs to find a way to keep him alive and mic’d up forever.
Only Jerry could walk into a week like this, crack jokes about an ex-player, and then watch that same player run himself into franchise history. No other owner would be that bold or that delusional. That’s the magic of Jerry.
“I’m too scared to show up,” Jerry reportedly joked before the game.
Yeah, well… turns out your defense should’ve stayed home too, big guy.
You couldn’t script it better if you tried.
Rico Dowdle, the guy Dallas let walk for basically nothing, turns into 2024 Saquon Barkley for four quarters. The Cowboys’ defense, already Swiss cheese on a good day, gives up chunk play after chunk play like they’re allergic to tackling.
The Legend of Rico Dowdle
All this while Jerry Jones pregame banter was still trending on social media.
Chef’s kiss.
You can’t let a dude you mocked go for 239 yards. Not when your team already has one of the worst defenses in the league. Jerry Jones continues to prove that he truly is a gift from the football gods.
He’s a walking meme factory that keeps the Cowboys permanently unserious. Every time he talks, it’s like a reverse Midas touch. Everything he touches turns into humiliation.
Obviously here in Philadelphia, we hope it never changes. The NFL needs Jerry Jones exactly the way he is. Just an old bag of milk, who is consistently delusional, overconfident, and completely incapable of learning his lesson.
