Jalen Hurts dominates, Eagles escape Minnesota with 28–22 victory over the Vikings
The 2025 version of the Philadelphia Eagles has proven yet again that nothing is ever easy and every win is a workout that will keep you sweating through four quarters. This time around, in the end, they found a way to win in Minnesota.
Behind Jalen Hurts’ 326 yards, three touchdowns, and a perfect 158.3 passer rating, plus AJ Brown’s two scores and clutch third-down grab to seal it, the Eagles escaped U.S. Bank Stadium with a 28–22 win over the Vikings, improving to 5–2, snapping their two-game skid.
The defense punished old friend Carson Wentz just enough, Hurts played his best game of the season, and Philly’s stars carried them home.
The first drive really defined what the Eagles offense has been lately. There were moments of promise, followed by stalled drives and third-and-forevers. After Saquon Barkley got stuffed twice, Hurts found himself staring down a 4th-and-4 in Vikings territory.
Nick Sirianni rolled the dice and Hurts managed to stay patient behind a clean pocket. He waved AJ Brown downfield, and hit him perfectly in stride past safety Joshua Metellus for a 41-yard touchdown.
The Eagles finally turned an early stallout into seven points which is something that’s been rare this season.

Minnesota had its chances early, but Carson Wentz stayed true to form.
After a nice 34-yard strike to Jordan Addison set the Vikings up in the red zone, Wentz botched the next series completely with two incompletions and a high snap that sailed over his head, turning a scoring chance into a 4th-and-32 from midfield.
The Vikings salvaged three points with a 59-yard field goal, but it was the kind of mistake that set the tone for their night.
Jalen Carter and the D-Line
Jalen Carter blew through the Vikings’ line, smacked Wentz as he threw, and rookie linebacker Jalyx Hunt picked off the floating pass and took it 35 yards to the house for a 14–3 lead.
Jalyx Hunt Pick 6
The Eagles’ defense, which has looked soft for weeks, suddenly had teeth again.vWentz kept trying to play hero ball and the defense kept making him pay.
Backed up deep in his own territory after penalties, Wentz rolled out and threw across his body into double coverage. Andrew Mukuba snatched the pick near the sideline for another turnover, with Quinyon Mitchell right there in support. The offense went three-and-out afterward.
First Half Clutch Up
Minnesota answered with a huge screen to Justin Jefferson, who slipped tackles for a 40-yard gain into the red zone. Every time the Vikings got close, the Eagles’ defense stiffened. Cooper DeJean broke up a pass to Jefferson in the end zone, then a holding call wiped out a touchdown on 4th-and-1.
Another field goal made it 14–6.
Jalen Hurts Takeover
Early in the third, rookie Myles Price gave the Vikings life with a 55-yard kick return, leading to yet another field goal (14–9).
Then Hurts and DeVonta Smith decided they’d had enough.
On 2nd-and-5, Smith burned everyone up the seam, Hurts let it fly, and Smith hauled in the 79-yard touchdown, slipping past former Eagle Isaiah Rodgers. Suddenly, it was 21–9, and the Eagles looked alive.
It’s Never Easy…
You know the drill. The Vikings clawed back.
Jordan Mason ran in a touchdown off a misdirection snap, cutting the lead to 21–16. Then Jake Elliott missed a 42-yarder, giving Minnesota another shot. Wentz led another drive downfield, but Moro Ojomo’s sack killed it, forcing yet another field goal. 21–19.
The tension? Palpable.
AJ Brown..again
The Eagles needed one last answer and got it from their stars. Hurts connected with A.J. Brown on a comeback route to move the sticks, then hit Smith over the middle for 21 yards. A play later, Hurts ripped a laser to Brown up the seam for a 26-yard touchdown, giving Philly a 28–19 lead.

Still, Wentz and the Vikings weren’t done. They drove for another field goal, trimming it to 28–22 with two minutes left. Then, on 3rd-and-9, Hurts found Brown again streaking up the sideline for a 45-yard dagger to end it. Ballgame.
It wasn’t pretty. It never is.
The Eagles still have glaring issues. The offensive line is banged up and that’s resulting in a shaky run game. There’s still wild inconsistencies in play-calling, and the defense still bends more than you’d like.
