WATCH: Cam Newton slaps Alabama A&M mascot Butch the Bulldog live on television
Cam Newton might officially be losing his mind. Between the absurd things he’s been saying about Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts and now throwing punches at a college mascot, this man needs a break from live television.
The latest incident came during a 40-yard dash between two mascots at Alabama A&M. Everything was fine until Cam Newton decided he wanted in on the action.
Out of nowhere, the former NFL MVP joined the race, sprinting down the field with his arms flailing and screaming like a cartoon character. Sure, the mascots were confused but overall, it looked like everyone was just having some good, harmless fun.
Unfortunately, things changed shortly after.
After getting left in the dust during the race, Butch the Bulldog made the mistake of testing Cam’s patience. In an attempt to save a little dignity after he got torched in the race, Butch knocked the dumb hat off Cam Newton’s head, and let’s just say he didn’t take it well.
Stop Playing With Me: Cam Newton slaps Alabama A&M mascot, live on television
You could actually hear the moment Cam Newton went from “I’m joking around” to “Stop playing with me.” He straight-up slapped the dude wearing a giant foam dog head. Butch tried to play it off, but it was too late. The damage was done.
This should have been expected. Cam Newton is 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds. He’s not built for casual fun. What looks like light-hearted energy from someone else comes off like a full-contact drill when he’s involved.
I don’t even think he meant for it to get violent, but when you’re that size and that intense, “fun” just naturally turns into something bigger than intended.
Cam Newton…lol
The video itself is hysterical, but also kind of sad. You can’t tell if he’s trying to be funny or if he’s genuinely losing touch. Maybe it’s both. At this point, the only thing more unpredictable than Cam Newton’s wardrobe is what he’s going to do next.
