Trevor Zegras has the boys buzzing, Flyers knock off Predators 4-1

The Trevor Zegras and the Philadelphia Flyers are BUZZIN’.

Behind another electric night from Trevor Zegras and a lockdown performance from Dan Vladar, Philly rolled past the Nashville Predators 4-1 Thursday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena to grab its third straight win and fifth in a row at home.

Trevor Zegras scored twice and added an assist, giving him seven points over his last three games and 12 total through ten contests this season. The 23-year-old looks like the perfect fit in orange and black, playing with confidence and flair every time he touches the puck.

Trevor Zegras Masterclass

Shoutout Darth Vladar. He continues to be unbelievable., notching 32 saves on 33 shots, holding the Flyers steady while Nashville dictated the early pace.

Welcome to the show, Matvei Michkov

Michkov finally looked every bit like the playmaker the Flyers have been waiting for. He registered his first multi-point game of the season, picking up two assists and showing off his vision all over the ice.

On Trevor Zegras’ opening goal, Michkov battled along the boards to keep the puck alive, then set up Jamie Drysdale minutes later with a slick feed from behind the net to make it 2-0.

Jamie Drysdale’s goal ended up being the game-changer.

The Grind

Philadelphia didn’t have its sharpest effort early, and things got worse when Coots left after the first period with an undisclosed injury. He took a puck up high from teammate Noah Juulsen and did not return.

The Flyers tightened things up defensively. Nashville managed just one goal and from there, Vladar shut the door, and the Flyers’ stars finished the job.

Zegras buried his second of the night on a power play early in the third period, hammering home a one-timer off a crisp setup from Cam York and Noah Cates. Travis Konecny added the empty-netter to seal it, his 201st career goal.

The Flyers are BUZZIN’

The win moves the Flyers to 6-3-1 on the season, matching their longest win streak from last year and showing real progress under Tocchet. Their 6-1-0 record at home already surpasses the pace they set a season ago, when it took 13 games to reach that mark.

Philadelphia has allowed just 24 goals through ten games. To put that in perspective, last year, they allowed 40 at this point. Credit Vladar for leading the change. He has yet to give up more than two in any of his six starts.

The Flyers will wrap up their five-game homestand this weekend with back-to-back matchups against the Maple Leafs on Saturday and the Flames on Sunday.

With Zegras leading the way, Michkov finding his rhythm, and Vladar standing tall in net, things are starting to feel different in South Philly.
