Temple hammered La Salle on Friday 75-54, handing the Explorers their first loss of the season and ending their three-game winning streak. But honestly, none of that was the story. I’m not going to pretend I fully understand the Church of 67.

The kids worship it. They scream it. They throw up hand signs like they’re being recruited into a secret society that only communicates via TikTok edits.

Apparently it all traces back to Philly rapper Skrilla and his song “Doot Doot,” which let’s be honest, is absolutely terrible.

Then LaMelo Ball picked it up, Overtime Elite kid Taylen “TK” Kinney ran with it, and suddenly every gym in America is being overrun by 11-year-olds chanting “six seven” like it’s a Gregorian hymn.

The lore runs deep. The meme has no fixed meaning, which is perfect because neither does Generation Alpha. It’s all just noise, chaos, and brain rot.

A kid named Maverick Trevillian even became the official “67 Kid” after going viral shrieking it courtside like a possessed gremlin. America, ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t care what 67 means. I don’t need to understand it. All I know is that my “Philadelphia 67ers” merch keeps flying off the shelves, and for that, I thank every single child involved in this extremely confusing cultural moment.

So congrats to Temple on the win, congrats to La Salle for being part of whatever the hell this was, and congrats to the youth of America for continuing to confuse and terrify the rest of us.
