Lane Johnson Injury Update

Update: Lane Johnson could miss 4 to 6 weeks with Lisfranc injury

The Eagles got a major win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, but it did not come without a gut punch. Five-time All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson left early with a foot injury, and multiple reports now confirm he suffered a Lisfranc injury.

The early expectation is that it is not season-ending, but it could be enough to land him on injured reserve. The current timeline is 4 to 6 weeks and if that holds, Johnson would miss a significant stretch of the regular season, but the Eagles still expect him to return for a playoff run.

Lane Johnson suffered a Lisfranc injury during win over the Lions

Johnson walked to the locker room early in the game, and from that moment, it never felt minor. Losing one of the best right tackles of his generation is always going to shift things up front, especially with an offense that has struggled to find rhythm.

Fred Johnson steps in

This is exactly why the Eagles made the move months ago to bring back Fred Johnson. He has already filled in for Lane at various points this season, and now he will be asked to take on a full starting workload.

There is no replacing Lane Johnson, but Fred has held his own and kept this offense upright when called upon.

Lane Johnson has played through just about everything in his career and remains one of the most important players on the roster. The Eagles sitting at the top of the NFC makes the timeline clear. The goal is simple: Get Lane healthy for the postseason.

This offense looks very different when he is on the field. The run game is cleaner. The protection is stronger. Jalen Hurts is more comfortable. There is a reason the Eagles’ record with and without Lane has been a talking point for years.

Nothing is finalized yet, and the Eagles have not made an official roster move. The likeliest scenario remains injured reserve, which would keep Johnson out for at least four weeks. The hope inside the building is that Lane Johnson returns healthier than he has been at any point this season and is ready to anchor the offensive line when it matters most.

Updated playoff picture following Eagles win over Detroit Lions

Philadelphia has a defense that looks capable of winning postseason games right now. If the offense is going to catch up, getting Lane Johnson back is a major part of that equation.

More updates to come once the Eagles finalize his injury timetable and roster status.
