Flyers Travis Sanheim OT Winner Blues

Flyers beat Blues 3-2 thanks to Travis Sanheim OT winner

The Flyers might actually be allergic to normal hockey games. For the third time in five games they spotted someone a 2-0 lead, shrugged, and then decided to make everyone sweat before stealing two points anyway.

This time, it was the St. Louis Blues catching the beatdown, courtesy of Travis Sanheim ripping home the OT winner with 1:09 left on the clock in a 3-2 comeback win.

The Blues came out hot early. Justin Faulk had himself a nostalgia tour in the first period, scoring twice. Philly looked flat, Dan Vladar looked shaky, and it felt like “one of those nights” until it didn’t.

Rodrigo Abols got the Flyers back to life in the second period with the kind of greasy goal this team has built their entire identity on.

Tyson Foerster tied it in the third with a laser past Joel Hofer to make it 2-2, and suddenly the Blues were right back in the same nightmare they lived last week when the Flyers came back from 1-0, 3-1, and 5-3 to beat them in a shootout.

Imagine blowing three leads in one game, losing your next two, then getting dragged into overtime and losing again. St. Louis has now dropped four straight and probably needs a wellness check.

Vladar deserves credit for settling in after the two early goals. He finished with 27 saves. Hofer had 25 for the Blues, including several that briefly delayed the collapse.

Then came overtime where Sanheim buried the game-winner and sent the good guys home happy. The building erupted. The Blues stared at the ceiling.
