Eagles at Cowboys: Here’s what everyone is talking about heading into Sunday

It’s been a long twenty four hours for The Liberty Line and somehow we all woke up this morning with functioning organs after tearing through the Fort Worth Stockyards all night.

If you missed it, we are down here in the heart of Texas with Phans of Philly, fully committed to dragging an Eagles win out of this state and bringing it back to the Great Northeast.

The Eagles will enter tomorrow’s game against the Dallas Cowboys at 8-2 and in complete control of the NFC East. All that looks great on paper and if you were only checking the standings, it would appear that the defending champs are cruising.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the whole story. If you want to go down that road, you can check all the fake drama surrounding the Eagles right here.

As for the Cowboys, they are two fourth quarter meltdowns and one Jerry Jones presser away from setting their stadium on fire. They are 4-5-1 and clinging to playoff hopes.

Dak has been good. CeeDee Lamb has been good. George Pickens has been very good. Javonte Williams is having a comeback season that nobody outside of Dallas cares about, but the Cowboys defense is a complete disaster, giving up explosive plays on the regular to any offense who can execute.

A loss tomorrow for the Eagles doesn’t move the needle in any direction. A win for the Cowboys would mean they are hanging on to the last thread of relevancy for another week. That said, I think everyone would love to see signs of life from the Birds offense, especially when it’s against a shitty Dallas defense on the road in Kelly Greens.

This could be a statement game for the Birds. Dallas is on life support. Their playoff chances are a sad little 6 percent. A win gets them to 11. A loss drops them to 3 and ends the conversation.

Here’s what everyone is talking about heading into Sunday.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys number one ranked offense

Dallas could not run the ball for anything last season. Twenty seventh ranked rushing attack. Completely fraudulent. Their big offseason fix was adding Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Two backs who could not crack four yards a carry if someone cleared the runway for them.

Then they drafted Tyler Booker and plugged him in. Somehow it all worked. Javonte Williams is fifth in the entire league in rushing and fits perfectly alongside the number one passing offense in football.

CeeDee Lamb has been banged up but George Pickens has turned into a monster. Dak Prescott is putting up numbers that have the national media begging to hand him MVP votes. It is nonsense but it is also predictable.

Pickens is second in the league in receiving yards and embarrassing defenders weekly. Dak is completing almost seventy percent of his passes and has twenty one touchdowns to six interceptions. He is not mobile anymore but if you let him sit in a clean pocket he will find his receivers and make you regret it.

Inside the Cowboys offensive line is fine. Outside is a whole different story. Tyler Guyton has improved but he is still a below average starter. Terence Steele can block the run but turns into a turnstile against speed.

Eagles Defense

This brings us to the Eagles defense which has turned into a chokehold machine over the past few weeks. Jaelan Phillips and the trade deadline reinforcements have changed everything.

Green Bay got clamped. Detroit got smothered. The identity is clear. It is the Eagles defense versus the Cowboys offense and that matchup will decide this entire football game.

The Eagles Offense

Meanwhile the Eagles offense has been running like a train that is one bad bolt away from derailing into a ditch. Jalen Hurts has been steady without ever taking over. AJ Brown has been frustrated and quiet. DeVonta Smith is coming off his smallest game in over a year. Saquon Barkley is averaging two fewer yards per carry than he did last season.

It is the same story every week. The offense is loaded with talent but refuses to show signs of life. At this point Eagles fans are not asking for fireworks. We just want something that looks like real offense. Anything. One sign of competence.

I am tired of watching paint dry for three hours every weekend. Jalen Hurts needs to settle in and show us something before this fanbase explodes into the sun.

We will find out Sunday, assuming we survive another night in the Stockyards.

Four years. Absolute dominance.

The Liberty Line simply does not lose on the road with Phans of Philly.

If you believe in analytics, superstition, witchcraft, government psy-ops, or any conspiracy theory, then this obviously matters.
