Eagles Report Cards after blowing 21-point lead in Dallas

The Eagles walked into Jerry’s World looking like they were about to beat the life out of the Cowboys. Twenty one to zero. Total domination. Then the offense went into hibernation, the defense fell apart, and the team delivered the most embarrassing loss of the season.

Quarterback: B

Jalen Hurts: 27 of 39, 289 yards, 1 TD, 33 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs.

A tale of two halves. Hurts looked sharp early and had the offense humming. Then everything came to a dead stop. He was not the main issue, but he also did not elevate anyone when the game flipped. The brutal sack on third and two late was a killer. Still, this loss is nowhere near “on Hurts” compared to the long list of failures around him.

Running Back: D–

Saquon Barkley: 10 carries for 22 yards, 7 catches for 52 yards, 1 fumble.

The run game is a corpse. Barkley got bottled up all afternoon and topped it off by coughing up the ball during the one promising second half drive the Eagles had. He owned it after the game, but the entire rushing operation is broken.

Receivers: B

AJ Brown: 8 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.
DeVonta Smith: 6 catches for 89 yards and the catch of the day on a 41 yard bomb.

Brown dominated early then disappeared for two full quarters while the offense imploded. Smith was fantastic again but also had a penalty that wiped out a big play. They produced. They also vanished when the team needed a spark.

Tight Ends: C

Dallas Goedert: 2 catches for 20 yards.

Goedert should have had double those yards but two plays were erased by penalties. Calcaterra finally showed up for an eight yard catch, his first since October. A quiet day for the tight ends but not really their fault.

Offensive Line: C minus

Early on, the protection was fine. Once Dallas went to the five man front, everything changed. Pass pro got shakier, run blocking evaporated, and the entire group faded. Barkley keeps eating the blame for the run game but it is not on him. The line has been mediocre for three straight weeks.

Defensive Line: C

They were strong against the run and held Dallas to 4 yards per carry. They pressured Prescott but could not finish. No sacks. A few hits. Then they wore down. Jordan Davis had one of his better games but it was not enough to tilt anything in the second half.

Linebackers: B plus

Nakobe Dean: 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL.

Dean bulldozed Javonte Williams on the Eagles’ only sack and continues to look like the defensive heartbeat. Zack Baun was everywhere, recovered a fumble, and led the team with nine tackles, but let a gift wrapped interception slip away.

Secondary: C minus

Reed Blankenship had a pick in the end zone and eight tackles before leaving injured. By the end, the Eagles had no Reed, no Adoree Jackson, no Mukuba. Communication breakdowns. Dallas hunted Cooper DeJean every chance they got. George Pickens went for 146 yards and looked unguardable. Injuries played a massive role, but it was still ugly.

Special Teams: C minus

Braden Mann was excellent. That is the nicest thing you can say about Sunday. Jake Elliott missed a 56 yarder in a dome that he normally buries. Xavier Gipson fielded a punt at the one yard line, fumbled it, and got hurt in one of the dumbest special teams moments of the season. Penalties piled up too.

Coaching: F

This entire collapse goes on the staff.

The offense exploded early then vanished. No adjustments. No rhythm. No urgency. Patullo had no answers and Sirianni watched his team rack up fourteen penalties. Fourteen. The discipline is nonexistent and the identity is nowhere to be found. The staff got pantsed on national TV.

Final Thoughts

The Eagles fell to 8-3 and surrendered full control of the one seed. They now have a short week before hosting the Bears. This team better wake up quickly.
