The Dallas Cowboys are the most overhyped team in NFL History and I’m tired of pretending otherwise

I genuinely do not understand what the national media is smoking when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.

Every year it is the same recycled hype train, and every year it derails the second it hits anything resembling real competition. Yet somehow, some way, the moment they string together three wins, we are all expected to bow at the altar of “America’s Team.”

Let me make this clear on the Dallas Cowboys, for anyone confused.

Hang the fucking banners boys, the cowboys beat the chiefs and the eagles – two teams who played in the Super Bowl last year.

Beating two teams that played in the Super Bowl last year does not suddenly make Dallas the juggernaut the talking heads want them to be.

Who gives a shit? Seriously. Why is this a headline?

Why is this a narrative? Why is ESPN acting like the NFL has been restored because the Cowboys remembered how to play football for a couple weeks?

Meanwhile, here is actual reality…

The Cowboys are not even a playoff team right now.

Not even the first team out. The Detroit Lions are 7-5 and ahead of Dallas, who sits at 6-5-1 and has a 19 percent chance to make the postseason.

Nineteen percent.

Yet we keep getting fed these ESPN hype graphics like the league is just waiting for Jerry Jones to bless us with another wildcard collapse. Here is what the NFC actually looks like:

That is the truth. Not the fantasy version ESPN keeps shoving down your throat.

All of that and we haven’t even addressed the flag festival the league has turned into. Over the last five days alone we have watched officials throw laundry all over the field like they are trying to hit a quota. The Eagles and Chiefs combined for 24 penalties and more than 200 yards.

That is not football. That is a referee audition tape.

I do not like conspiracy theories but at the same time, it feels a little too convenient that the Cowboys keep benefiting from calls in games where they absolutely need them.

Almost like the NFL front office would really appreciate Dallas being relevant again. Almost like the league wants them in the mix no matter how undeserving they are.

You can fluff the Cowboys all you want on national TV.

Inflate their wins and ignore the record all you want. Pretend the Dallas Cowboys are actually contenders while the NFC standings and math say otherwise. None of that will change the fact that right now, the Dallas Cowboys are the most overhyped team in the entire NFL and still don’t even matter when talking about the NFC playoff race.
