Notre Dame Declines Bowl Bid College Football Playoffs

Notre Dame declines bowl bid after missing CFP, proves yet again they live in their own universe

Notre Dame decided to sit out bowl season because it did not get into the College Football Playoff, and honestly, nobody should be surprised. If any program was going to slam the door, take its ball, and stomp home because the world didn’t go its way, it was the one that still refuses to join a conference like every other adult team in the sport.

Notre Dame declines bowl bid after missing CFP:

This is the first time a 10-win team has said “no thanks” to a bowl game purely out of spite. To be clear, this had nothing to with a coaching change. It wasn’t related to guys sitting out for the NFL draft or entering the trasnfer portal either. Notre Dame is soft and this is a display of pure petulance.

Notre Dame fans can spin it however they want, but the facts are simple.

You went 10-2. You went 1-2 against top 25 opponents. You lost head-to-head to Miami. You did not get screwed by the committee. You got evaluated on what you actually did on the field. The end.

Notre Dame is soft.

The 12-team College Football Playoff bracket is officially set

If you think you’re one of the best teams in the country, go to the Pop-Tarts Bowl and beat BYU by 50. Prove everyone wrong. Plant a flag and put a dent in the postseason.

Instead, the response is to fold your arms and pout, showing zero competitive fire or accountability. We’re left with an “if we can’t have the bowl we wanted, we don’t want any bowl at all” meltdown.

It is soft. Completely, undeniably soft.

This program wants the privileges of independence without any of the consequences. They want CFP access without the gauntlet of a conference title game.

They want respect without earning it the same way every other contender has to. And now they’re rewriting history by acting like the system did them dirty when the truth is simple. Notre Dame had their chance and didn’t do enough.

If Notre Dame wants to avoid situations like this, it has an easy solution. Join a conference and play a real schedule. Stop pretending you’re above the sport’s structure while crying the second it works against you.

The committee got the at-large teams right. Notre Dame didn’t get robbed. Notre Dame got exposed.
