Shedeur Sanders goes nuclear as the Browns found a new way to lose to the 1-11 Tennessee Titans
If you’re asking whether I’m shocked that the Cleveland Browns just lost at home to the one-win Tennessee Titans, the answer is a very calm and rational absolutely not.
This franchise could lose a bye week and nobody would bat an eye. The Browns exist solely to create new forms of football misery, and Sunday they delivered an instant classic.
Shedeur Sanders went absolutely nuclear.
He became just the second rookie quarterback in the Super Bowl era to throw for at least 350 yards, three passing touchdowns, and add a rushing score in the same game.
The only other name on that list is Joe Burrow. Sanders’ final line was outrageous: 23 of 42, 364 passing yards, four total touchdowns, and one interception. He was the first rookie all season to hit 300 passing yards. He gave Cleveland everything.
The problem is Shedeur Sanders and Browns can do all the swag they want and it never matters because the football gods simply do not like this organization.
Shedeur went nuclear with his best statistical game of his young career and they still lost. At home. To the 1-11 Titans. Nothing surprises me anymore, but this game still found a way to create several lowlights.
We’ll start with the easiest blocked punt in the history of the sport.
Then, in a moment that perfectly sums up Browns football, they went for two, and took Shedeur Sanders off the field. I don’t even have to post the video, you already know how it turned out based on that information alone.
Browns take Shedeur Sanders off the field for 2PT conversion…
That’s just deflating. Shedeur Sanders did everything humanly possible to drag this team back. He ripped off a ridiculous touchdown run, launched a big time throw late to set up a chance to tie the game, and gave Cleveland a real shot.
Naturally, the Browns rewarded their rookie quarterback for a 350 yard, four touchdown performance by taking him off the field on the most important play of the game. They ran a Wildcat.
They called a reverse…lol
They forgot to pitch the ball and produced possibly the worst two point conversion attempt in recorded history. Only the Cleveland Browns could turn a breakout superstar performance into a meme.
Only the Browns could lose a game where their rookie quarterback outplays everyone.
Only the Browns could engineer game deciding disasters with such consistency that you almost have to respect the craftsmanship.
They never surprise me. They only confirm everything I already know.
