WATCH: Chris Jones had no idea Chiefs were eliminated from playoffs
The Chiefs fall from grace has been fun to watch, but not as fun as seeing the look on Chris Jones’ face when he realized they were eliminated from postseason contention.
Chris Jones had no idea the Chiefs were eliminated
Even though it was obvious pretty early that this Chiefs team wasn’t the same as the versions we’ve been watching for years, it’s still jarring to see them officially out of the postseason. Kansas City has been the measuring stick for the entire league for the better part of a decade, and now that they’re gone, the AFC feels wide open in a way it hasn’t in years.
So what happens next? Do the Bills finally get over the hump? Can the Ravens actually make some noise when it matters? And what about the new kids, Denver and New England, can one of them run the table? Either way, it’s a breath of fresh air for a conference that’s had to go through Kansas City for the past half-decade.
With Patrick Mahomes done for the year with a torn ACL, and guys like Chris Jones and Travis Kelce clearly on their last legs, this really does feel like the end of an era. And honestly? Good. The Chiefs dynasty will go down as one of the most boring in NFL history. Nobody outside of Kansas City cared. They never had the aura of the Patriots or the overwhelming dominance of the ’90s Cowboys. They just… existed, and somehow became the most insufferable group of athletes ever assembled along the way.
Good riddance.
