Flyers win in Montreal again, take down Canadiens 4-1

For the second time this season, the Flyers walked into the Bell Centre and walked out with two points.

Philadelphia took care of business Tuesday night in Montreal, beating the Canadiens 4–1 and snapping a season-long three-game losing streak in the process.

Carl Grundstrom, Trevor Zegras, Bobby Brink, and Travis Konecny all found the back of the net, with Konecny sealing it late with an empty-netter.

Dan Vladar was rock solid once again, and Sean Couturier quietly picked up two assists.

Philly improved to 17-9-6 and while those three straight losses were frustrating, this team has still managed to earn points in five straight games and 16 of its last 20 overall. Rick Tocchet’s group continues to find ways to stay afloat, even when things get messy.

Flyers back in the win column

Winning in Montreal is never easy. The Bell Centre is loud, chaotic, and full of a fanbase that expects wins. The Flyers didn’t flinch.

Vladar Continues to Answer the Bell

Dan Vladar might be one of the most underrated players on this roster right now. Vladdy stopped 21 of 22 shots and has now allowed two or fewer goals in 13 of his 20 starts this season. He has already matched his win total from last year and continues to look calm, confident, and in control.

Montreal struck first late in the opening period after a neutral-zone turnover, but the Flyers answered almost immediately. Just 39 seconds later, Carl Grundstrom buried his third goal in six games with Philadelphia, flipping momentum right back.

Once the Flyers grabbed the lead, Vladar slammed the door. He turned aside 12 shots in the third period alone and never let the Canadiens sniff a comeback.

Risto’s Immediate Impact

After more than nine months away from game action, Rasmus Ristolainen made his season debut and didn’t waste any time reminding everyone what he brings. Skating alongside Nick Seeler on the third pair, Ristolainen delivered a heavy, clean hit on Juraj Slafkovsky less than nine minutes into the game.

That hit immediately set the tone. Ivan Demidov went after Ristolainen in response and took a penalty, and the Flyers fed off the physicality from there.

Ristolainen finished with three hits, two blocked shots, a plus-2 rating, and logged over 19 minutes. A Seeler-Ristolainen third pair gives this Flyers defense real depth, and it showed.

Trevor Zegras Keeps Rolling

Trevor Zegras continues to look more and more comfortable in Philadelphia. His goal came on a clean 2-on-1 with Travis Konecny early in the second period, giving the boys a lead they wouldn’t give back.

The numbers tell the story.

Trevor Zegras had 32 points in 57 games last season with Anaheim. This year, he already has 33 points in 32 games with the Flyers. The confidence is there, the creativity is there, and he’s producing.

Bobby Brink added some insurance late in the second period after Matvei Michkov jumped on a mistake behind the net and found him in front. Brink made no mistake, pushing the lead to 3–1 before intermission.

Konecny iced it late with the empty-netter and that was that.

Quietly Dominant Stretch

The Flyers are now 2-0-0 against Montreal this season and won’t see them again until the regular-season finale on April 14 in Philadelphia. They’ve earned points in five straight games, remain firmly in the playoff mix, and continue to win games in tough buildings.

This wasn’t flashy. It was professional. And after a rough stretch, that’s exactly what this team needed.

Next up for the Flyers

Philly heads to Buffalo on Thursday night to face the Sabres.
