NFC Playoff Scenarios: Eagles still have math involved, but the reality is pretty straightforward
With two games left in the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff picture is mostly settled. There’s still math involved, but the reality is pretty straightforward.
Right now, the Eagles are the No. 3 seed in the NFC. If the playoffs started today, they’d host a Wild Card game at the Linc, likely against the Rams or 49ers. That’s the lane they’re in, and it’s the lane they’re expected to stay in.
Why the No. 1 Seed Is Off the Table
Let’s kill this immediately so nobody wastes energy on it.
The Eagles cannot get the No. 1 seed.
Teams ahead of them still play each other, which guarantees at least one more win above Philly in the standings. Even if the Eagles win out, the math doesn’t work. Any No. 1 seed chatter is officially dead, gone, and buried.
Can the Eagles Move Up to No. 2?
Technically? Yes. Realistically? Not likely.
For the Eagles to climb to the No. 2 seed, they need:
- Two wins (Bills, Commanders)
- Two Bears losses
That’s a lot of help needed, especially this late in the season. Possible, sure. Probable, no. The most likely outcome is the Eagles finishing No. 3, which still guarantees at least one home playoff game and keeps them away from the top seed until the NFC Championship.

What Actually Matters for the Eagles
The Eagles already handled the most important business by clinching the NFC East. Everything else is positioning.
The real focus now should be staying healthy, continuing to build momentum and avoid any bullshit over the final two weeks of the regular season.
A home playoff game is coming. The opponent will be tough regardless. Whether it’s the Rams, 49ers, or Packers, there are no freebies in January.
The Eagles are built for the postseason. They’re not chasing seeding fantasies anymore. They’re lining up for another playoff run, likely from the No. 3 spot, with the Linc rocking and expectations exactly where they should be.
Win games. Stay sharp. Let the rest sort itself out.

Pretty sure there’s still a very slim chance that they could finish #4. If Eagles lose out and Panthers win out, Panthers would win the division record tiebreaker 4-2 vs. 3-3 (no head-to-head).
