George Kittle all but admits he wants to avoid the Eagles in the Wild Card

After George Kittle’s 49ers lost to the Seahawks on Saturday night, a few things officially snapped into place in the NFC playoff picture.

For starters, Seattle locked up the No. 1 seed. Good for them. More importantly, the Eagles’ Wild Card situation came into much clearer focus. With the Niners’ loss, San Francisco would be heading to Philly for Round 1 if the Rams take care of business against the Cardinals today.

And according to Sean McVay, that’s very much in play. Los Angeles plans to play its starters against its division rival regardless of seeding, which makes Eagles vs. 49ers the most likely Wild Card matchup for the Birds.

George Kittle was also pretty transparent about who he’d prefer to see in Round 1 during his postgame presser.

Spoiler: it wasn’t the Eagles.

To be fair, I’d rather face the winner of the NFC South too. The Bucs and Panthers played Saturday, and neither did much to convince anyone they actually belong in the postseason. Both teams sit at 8–9 and still need help just to clinch the division.

If the Saints beat the Falcons today, Tampa Bay wins the South. If not, Carolina takes it.

So yeah — play an 8–9 division winner, or travel to Philly to face the defending Super Bowl champs.

Pretty easy choice if you ask me.
