Eagles Fans Fighting Tailgate

Disgusting Behavior: Eagles fans fighting each other in the parking lots

Look, I get it. Everyone knew the Eagles weren’t playing their starters against Washington, so fans treated it like a glorified preseason game and took it easy in the lots too.

Fine. Whatever. Still, fighting each other in the parking lots before the game? That’s where it officially goes off the rails.

I’ve been down in the Eagles tailgate lots for well over a decade. I wasn’t there yesterday, but I can tell you this with full confidence that you almost never see Eagles fans fighting in the lots and you definitely don’t see Eagles fans fighting other Eagles fans.

That’s how you know this wasn’t your usual crew of seasoned tailgaters who know the rules of engagement. This crew was a bunch of amateurs.

Disgusting Behavior: Eagles fans fighting each other in the parking lots

This feels like a group that panic-bought cheap tickets on Ticketmaster once they realized it was a meaningless Week 18 game.

Maybe it’s even worse. We could be looking at the “steal a couple beers from mom and dad’s garage fridge and pretend we’re tailgating” crowd.

Hard to say. Either way, it showed.

I honestly don’t know who looked worse. The idiots throwing haymakers at each other or the full-on circle of people standing around filming and cheering like they just discovered violence for the first time.

What happened to the youth of today? Who wakes up and decides fighting at a tailgate is how they want to spend their Sunday?

You’re at an Eagles game. The goal is simple. Make friends with a tailgate that has extra booze. Maybe bum a cig to keep warm. If you play your cards right, you might even get fed. That’s the system. That’s the culture. Throwing punches at people wearing the same colors as you is the dumbest possible alternative.

I know this sounds like an old man rant, but fighting isn’t it. Eagles fans already get enough bad publicity as it is. I spend plenty of time writing about other fanbases acting like complete idiots in stadiums across the country. I really don’t want to start doing it about our own.

If you want to claim these clowns, that’s on you. I’m out.
