NFL Playoff Bracket: Seeding, matchups, schedule and the road to Super Bowl LX
The regular season is officially in the books, and after a chaotic, dramatic, and occasionally unhinged final Sunday, the NFL playoff picture is finally locked in.
Division titles were decided. A couple of teams got their hearts ripped out at the buzzer. A rookie kicker missed wide right and changed an entire conference. And now, the road to the Super Bowl is clear.
NFL The Big Picture
Seven teams from each conference made the playoffs. The four division winners are seeded one through four based on record, followed by three wild cards. Only the No. 1 seed in each conference gets a bye.
This year, that honor belongs to the Denver Broncos in the AFC and the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC. Everyone else is playing on Wild Card Weekend.
AFC Playoff Teams and Seeding
- Denver Broncos (AFC West champions, No. 1 seed)
- New England Patriots (AFC East champions)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (AFC South champions)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North champions)
- Houston Texans (Wild card)
- Buffalo Bills (Wild card)
- Los Angeles Chargers (Wild card)
The Steelers clinched the AFC North in brutal fashion on Sunday night when Baltimore rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed a potential game-winner. Cold. Violent. AFC North football.
NFC Playoff Teams and Seeding
- Seattle Seahawks (NFC West champions, No. 1 seed)
- Chicago Bears (NFC North champions)
- Philadelphia Eagles (NFC East champions)
- Carolina Panthers (NFC South champions)
- Los Angeles Rams (Wild card)
- San Francisco 49ers (Wild card)
- Green Bay Packers (Wild card)
The NFC South somehow ended in a three-way tie at 8–9, and thanks to tiebreakers, Carolina slid into the playoffs while Tampa watched from home. Football is beautiful and stupid.
