NFL scriptwriters teased Super Bowl LX matchup all the way back in September
The stage is set for Super Bowl LX. The New England Patriots will be going for ring number seven against Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks out in San Francisco. Not the Super Bowl matchup any of us predicted over the offseason, but one we probably all should have seen coming, because the NFL scriptwriters teased it all the way back in September.
Every year, the NFL graphics team drops a teaser for the upcoming season. This year, they had players from every single team walking toward Levi’s Stadium, the site of Super Bowl LX, with the big game’s logo hanging overhead. If you look closely and zoom in a bit, you’ll see two quarterbacks who are clearly the closest to the stadium: Sam Darnold and Drake Maye.
Super Bowl LX matchup was right in front of us this whole time
Is the NFL actually scripted? No shot. Way too many people would have to keep their mouths shut for the league to pull that off. But it is quite the coincidence, I can’t deny that.
As an Eagles fan, I typically haven’t watched the Super Bowl the past few years unless the Birds are in it. Two years ago, when it was KC and San Fran, I didn’t watch a single minute because I genuinely hated both teams. Nothing could’ve happened in that game that would’ve brought me joy, so I sat that one out. This year, though, I’m actually pretty intrigued.
This is a pretty unoffensive matchup. I know the Patriots getting back here so quickly after their mini rebuild could be annoying, but it doesn’t bother me all that much.
It’s been a weird year in general for the NFL. It feels like a lot of teams burst onto the scene earlier than expected. Every team that was “a year away” proved they were actually right on schedule. Every team we expected to be vying for this spot, more or less, left us all disappointed. The entire AFC turned into a bunch of upstart teams. The NFC playoff picture looked pretty similar to last year’s, with the big exception being the Seahawks.
Maybe we’re entering a new era of the NFL. Or maybe all these teams that surprised us this year come back down to Earth in 2026. Who knows. Either way, I’m just excited to see two Cinderella stories play in the big game.
