Warriors trade package for Giannis leaked and honestly it might be best for the NBA

Every time I hear a superstar even sniff the trade block — especially someone remotely close to Giannis Antetokounmpo, my brain immediately jumps to the same conclusion:

This has to be a three-team trade right? No shot is there any team out there that actually has a player close to his caliber that they could include in the deal. Typically, it’s a package of players and draft picks.

For What It’s Worth: The Warriors are the favorites to trade for Giannis

When you really think about it, the Warriors make a lot of sense here. If you’re Stephen Curry, this is the last real swing. One more shot to legitimately win an NBA Championship.

Pairing Giannis Antetokounmpo with Steph Curry is the kind of move that doesn’t just extend a title window, it rips it back open. And from Milwaukee’s perspective? The appeal isn’t the players, it’s the calendar.

Anyhow, here’s what the trade would look like, from all of the information i’ve gathered from reporters around the league:

  • Up to five first-round picks, including multiple unprotected selections deep into the future
  • A first-round pick swap, giving Milwaukee extra leverage post–Steph Curry era
  • Jonathan Kuminga, a 23-year-old wing with 20-point scoring upside
  • Brandin Podziemski, a young guard who helps on the margins
  • Jimmy Butler’s contract, likely the salary glue to make the numbers work

So basically, it seems the Warriors are willing to unload every future first round draft pick they have it seems. And, can you really blame them?

Why Milwaukee Would Actually Love the Picks

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: the Warriors’ picks might age like wine. Steph is 37. Draymond is 35. Those future firsts, especially post-Curry, could be gold.

And that is why this feels like the best possible trade scenario for all sides. And most importantly us fans. I mean seriously, you wouldn’t want to see Steph Curry and Giannis together?

We should all be rooting for this. Or maybe even Giannis going to Minnesota to team up with Anthony Edwards. Anything to prevent the Oklahoma City Thunder from just breezing through the Western Conference yet again.
